Navigating Through Time: Hamburg Edition Hafen

For lovers of Hamburg and those who aspire to be: Our new Hamburg Edition Hafen expands our popular Hamburg series with a luxurious special edition. Named "Hafen," the German word for "harbor," this watch captures the iconic maritime spirit of Hamburg, reflecting its rich seafaring heritage.

This new model stands out with its simple and timeless design. Hanseatic elegance suitable for any occasion – whether business or personal.

Just as a buoy provides orientation in rough seas, so does the Hamburg Edition Hafen. The classic dial and Luminova on the hands ensure optimal readability, even in poor lighting conditions.

The Hamburg Edition Hafen is more than just a timepiece; it's a wearable ode to the sea, the coastline, and the port of Hamburg, serving as yet another testament to our enduring affection for our beautiful hometown.

But beware: This piece of lived harbor love is strictly limited to only 1,500 pieces.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

A Timepiece as Precise as the Tides

The dial, featuring a red and white ring, is reminiscent of a signal buoy through a quartet of colors: white, gray, red, and anthracite. These are the same colors used in mid-channel markers, which indicate the deepest point in the Hamburg harbor basin and mark the center of shipping lanes.

Even when everyday life gets a bit stormy, the Hamburg Edition Hafen is optimally protected with rust-resistant 316L stainless steel and scratch-resistant sapphire glass. Like all STERNGLAS timepieces, this one is also water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

The Hamburg Harbor: Somewhere Between Home and Wanderlust

The detailed engraving is a tribute to the rich and significant history of the harbor: a container ship set against the iconic skyline of the Hanseatic city symbolizes the blend of traditional and modern global trade.

Just as we adapt to time, the Hamburg Harbor, known as the "Gateway to the World," has continually reinvented itself: from sailing ships of old to today’s massive container ships and cruise liners. Every year, millions of containers are handled. Once it was sailors, now tourists throng the jetties.

However, one thing likely will never change: the deep sense of home that this place consistently provides. That moment when the sun, accompanied by the cries of seagulls, breaks through the clouds and its rays touch the water. Surely, Hamburg Harbor was a magical place even 100 years ago. And it will always remain so.

Have you noticed this fine detail yet?

The bezel is polished, while the case and caseback are brushed. This makes the Edition Hafen visually more complex and appear slimmer than its predecessor models.

Inside, the reliable Ronda 715 movement operates as precisely as the ebb and flow of the tides. The result: A sleek watch that is perfectly suited for all occasions.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

Moin! I'm Dustin Fontaine, Founder of STERNGLAS...

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Ronda Quartz Movement 715 with Date Function

Behind the screw-down steel case back, the Ronda 715 quartz caliber powers the watch.

This movement offers a battery life of up to 60 months and a precision of -10/+20 seconds per month.

With a slim height of 2.5mm, the 715 caliber is the ideal engine for our Hamburg Edition Hafen.

The Perfect Strap for Every Occasion

Combined with the stylish straps, the maritime character of the timepiece is especially prominent.

The Hamburg Edition is available with either an elegant Italian leather strap or a sporty nylon strap in the signal color orange.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Any questions left?

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.de and we will help you personally.

How long does the battery last? Can I change the battery myself?

The batteries we use normally last between 2-5 years. We recommend that you always have the batteries changed by a jeweller or watchmaker.

Did you know that... ?

Did you know that workers at the Hamburg Harbor used to communicate in a secret language? They called it "Kedelkloppersprook," a language invented by boiler-makers.

A nice benefit of this secret language was that people from outside the harbor couldn't understand their conversations.
