Manufacturer: Sternglas GmbH

A tribute to our hometown Hamburg.

Inspired by navigation instruments, the focus of the HAMBURG watch is clearly on function. With a diameter of 42 mm and a flat height of only 6 mm, it is the ideal everyday watch for anyone who values style, practicality, and precision.

The detailed dial design, hands and indices with luminescent Luminova combined with the precise 3-hand quartz movement from RONDA, emphasizes the functional character of the HAMBURG.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Reliable elegance for everyday life: the Hanseatic-inspired design of the STERNGLAS Hamburg

The careful and precise work is immediately noticeable to the viewer with this timepiece. It features a highly polished 316L stainless steel case, clean and contrasting hands, a textured crown with the STERNGLAS logo engraved on it, a four-fold screwed case back, and an intricately printed dial. These elements come together to create a watch with a unique and elegant appearance, demonstrating the attention to detail and quality craftsmanship put into its design and construction.

Detailed silver-satin dial

At first glance, the clear contrasts and fine lines of the neatly printed indices stand out. On closer inspection, the fine, discreetly graphite-shimmering dial structure catches the eye: The base material for the dials is brass, which has been coated and finely satin-finished by sandblasting. The dial is also slightly curved towards the edge, creating a slight gradient. A real eye-catcher.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

Moin! I'm Dustin Fontaine, Founder of STERNGLAS...

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Ronda quartz movement 715 with date function

The Ronda 715 quartz caliber works behind the screw-down steel case back. The movement offers a battery life of up to 60 months and an accuracy of -10/+20 seconds per month. With a low height of 2.5 mm, the 715 caliber is the ideal engine for our Hamburg model.

Vintage strap made of Italian leather

The velvety soft interchangeable strap made of Italian vintage leather impresses with its striking cut edge and the two-tone 'pull-up effect'.

External influences cause the leather to age over time, creating a unique vintage look.

Crafted with great care by our German partner leather workshop.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Any questions left?

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We are happy to check if your desired watch can be ordered with an alternative strap. Simply send an e-mail to support@sternglas.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

How long does the battery last?

The batteries we use typically last between 2-5 years. We recommend having a jeweler or watchmaker perform a battery replacement.

Did you know that ...

... Hamburg and timekeeping have been closely linked for centuries?

In seafaring, knowing the correct time meant arriving at the right place at the right time. By converting time intervals into longitude, distances to the home port or destination port were determined. This enabled sailors around Hamburg to navigate safely through the waters.
