From Hamburg to Berlin in minutes.

It is December 15, 1846. The first train to run between Berlin and Hamburg is waiting for the starting signal for its long-awaited trial run. What no one knows at this point is that this trial run will lay the foundation for a network of routes that will enable a completely new way of traveling. We wanted to capture this feeling of wonder and combine it with the leisurely pace of another century. The result is the Berlin model with weekday and date display. The 38 mm champagne-gold case and alligator-embossed strap underscore the vintage style of the timepiece. With a case height of 8 mm, the Berlin is comfortable on the wrist and combines timeless style with minimalist design.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Our first model with weekday display

The Berlin combines vintage with minimalist design to create a timepiece with a unique look. The dial is limited to the essentials but provides displays for the date and weekday. The cowhide leather strap has been given an elegant alligator embossing, making the model a real eye-catcher on your wrist.

Tribute to the former Berlin train station in Hamburg

The underside of the 10 mm high case features an engraving of the Berlin train station in our hometown of Hamburg. After its construction in 1857, it served as the westernmost terminal of this railway connection for 46 years and allowed for "fast" travel from Hamburg to Berlin in 9 hours at the time.

Japanese precision mechanics with tradition

The Miyota GM02 quartz calibre works behind the screw-down steel case back.

The traditional company Miyota can now look back on over 70 years of company history and shares our demand for quality and precision.

The movement offers a battery life of up to 36 months and a rate accuracy of -20/ +20 seconds per month. In addition to the date, the movement also has a day of the week display in German and English.

Heritage leather strap with alligator embossing

The cowhide leather strap with alligator embossing perfectly showcases the watch face on any wrist. The leather strap comes from a Bavarian manufacturing company. To maintain the natural texture of the leather, we primarily work with fully tanned bands rather than painted ones. This complex tanning process makes each leather strap a handmade unique piece.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We are happy to check if your desired watch can be ordered with an alternative strap. Simply send an e-mail to support@sternglas.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

How long does the battery last?

The batteries we use typically last between 2-5 years. We recommend having a jeweler or watchmaker perform a battery replacement.

Which languages are on the weekday display?

The Miyota GM02 quartz movement in this model features a day and date display, which can be set to either German or English and is easily adjustable via the crown in the first position.

Did you know..?

the Berlin station was opened on December 29, 1846 and was the most modern station building in Europe at the time? The building was designed in the late classicist style by Friedrich Neuhaus and Ferdinand Wilhelm Holz.
